Bushenyi: Kasambya County Member of Parliament (MP) Mbwatekamwa Gaffa has been released on police bond after spending five hours in custody at the Bushenyi Central Police Station.

Bushenyi District Police Commander Joel Komakech has confirmed that Mbwatekamwa had been arrested and charged and later released on bond.

Mbwatekamwa was arrested shortly after he had donated an ambulance to Kakanju Health Center III in Kakanju Sub County on Sunday.

However, DPC Comakech said that Mbwatekamwa was not arrested from the venue where he donated his ambulance but from a different location.

Whereas Mbwatekamwa refuted allegations that he was arrested from a different location saying he only tried to walk away from the venue and then police stopped him without a clear reason.

“Am not aware why I have been arrested because Police found me walking and they ordered me to enter my vehicle and I refused before they forced me on their pick up,” he said.

It should be remembered that On 1st January 2019 Kasambya County legislator Gaffa Mbwatekamwa in an interview with TheSpy Uganda made a shocking revelation to his constituents that he would not contest again come 2021.

The controversial legislator said he would step down due to the amendment of lifting the presidential age limit points to unfulfilled NRM manifesto and over dominance of President Museveni.

“NRM constitution requirers all its flag bearers to solicit support using the general NRM manifesto which I did but am disappointed that after Museveni’s victory he has not bothered to look at the demands of Ugandans instead he is showing dominance, I will not return to active politics if President Museveni is still in power. Hon Mbwatekamwa said.

However according to our inside sources from Gaffa’s camp, He is among the people who have expressed interest to unseat the Igara West Member of Parliament and Presidential age limit pusher Hon. Raphael Magyezi.
