Ministry of finance has Tuesday presented a supplementary request Budget to Parliament requesting for approval of Shs282bn to mitigate the effects of Covid-19, Shs62bn to Health sector, Shs81bn to Security sector, Shs36bn to Local Government, Shs59bn to Disaster( food aid to Ugandans), Shs14bn to ICT and Shs30bn to KCCA.

The Shs583 billion total budget was presented by finance minister Matia Kasaija this afternoon.

Kasaija also told Parliament that fuel for ambulances and other vehicles to be used in the  COVID-19 fight would be urgently sent to all Accounting Officers in various districts of the country soon.

It should be noted that President Yoweri Museveni on Monday directed all civil servants with government vehicles to surrender them at the District Headquarters under the command of District Health Officers (DHO) such that they can be used as ambulances to ferry COVID-19 suspected patients and samples to testing hubs set up by the ministry of health.
