Kampala, Entebbe: H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today met H.E Abdullah Al-Lafi, the Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council at State House Entebbe.

Museveni in the meeting revealed to the Libyan leaders that Libya has its owners who should get a chance to make their own mistakes through elections instead of imposing the mistakes of foreigners on them.

Ever since Libya’s long time leader Col Muammar Gaddafi was deposed, the USA turned self Libya’s democracy planner and last week, the top commander of American forces in Africa visited Tripoli for meetings with representatives of the country’s two rival governments seeking agreement to abide by the 24 December voting timeline.

Also remember that US Congress, the House of Representatives recently passed several measures that take explicit aim at eastern strongman Khalifa Haftar and his self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA), while also authorising up to $30m to help Libya with its elections.

However, Museveni believes that getting foreigners to fight African wars is plundering the continent.

”Libyan leaders should spend more time winning over the Libyan people saying elections are fair and strategic in terms of encouraging people to make peace rather than war and everyone should participate without conditions. Getting foreigners to fight our wars is plundering Africa,” he says.

Museveni further wonders why foreigners should be the master planner of Libya’s elections saying the nation has been messed up by outsiders taking advantage of Libyans who were ideologically not well prepared.

”Let the people now make their choices whether good or bad, it will be their responsibility after all,” he cautioned Libyans.

It’s worth noting that ever since Muammar Muhammad Abu Minyar al-Gaddafi was captured under USA’s command by NATO forces before handing him over to National Transitional Council (NTC) forces that later killed him, Libya has never had peace again.
