The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), in collaboration with the Uganda Police Force and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has arraigned five members of the Nakasongola District Land Allocation Committee on multiple criminal charges.

The accused individuals have been identified as Kasibante Robert, Kawa Robert, Musisi Julius, Gawera Ronald, and Semata Vicent, along with others still at large.

They face charges including conspiracy to defraud, assault causing grievous harm, malicious damage to property, and unlawful confinement.

According to prosecution, the accused, while serving as members of the Land Allocation Committee, allegedly initiated the subdivision and distribution of land within the Kyarubanga Forest Reserve prior to its official degazettement. This action is said to have contravened a directive issued by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni regarding the proper process for degazetting the forest reserve.

Investigations further reveal that the accused allegedly forcefully took possession of land occupied by lawful tenants and reassigned it to themselves and other individuals, including non-residents of Nakasongola District. These actions reportedly triggered violent disputes, assaults, and destruction of property.

In addition, some members of the committee are accused of obtaining money from members of the public under false pretenses, promising land allocations that were never fulfilled.

The intervention by SH-ACU followed a directive from President Museveni to investigate allegations of corruption and irregularities within the Land Allocation Committee. Authorities confirm that investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend additional suspects.

The accused were remanded in custody until April 14, 2026, as the case continues.
