Former Capital Radio Veteran Presenter Alex Nduwula Dies At 59

Kampala: Former Capital Fm radio presenter Alex Nduwula has been pronounced dead at Nsambya Hospital at the age of 59.

Popularly known for his music shows ‘Dance Force’ and ‘Sundowner’ at 91.3 Capital Fm, Uganda, Ndawula was pronounced dead at St Francis Nsambya Hospital on Monday evening where he has been admitted for some time.

Ndawula’s death came as a shock to many, especially the media fraternity with some friends describing him as the best of all times in the history of radio broadcasting.

”It’s with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of our very beloved former colleague Alex Ndawula. He passed on at Nsambya Hospital. Rest In Peace Legend,” Capital FM posted on their Facebook late Monday night.

While eulogizing Ndawula, one of his long time best friends, Andrew Irumba live as he goes by his social media names, who doubles as CEO Spy Uganda, described Ndawula as the biggest in the country’s Radio history,

”Ooohh!!! my first time to enter 91.3 CAPITAL FM studios was on the invitation of my good friend Alexander Ndawula and Christine Mawadri when I had won myself an opportunity to present with them as guest presenter many years ago. Their combination has been the biggest ever so far in the country’s Radio history. I used to call him Alex Munyantosi Muchancosi via phone chats. RiP brother,” Irumba shared in a Facebook post Monday night upon learning the bad news.
According to close sources, his body will be preserved till his sister arrives from the United states and burial arrangements will be communicated in due time.

Ndawula was born in the United States in New York City in 1963 but later relocated to Uganda after the death of his father.

He attended St Mary’s College Kisubi before crossing to Nairobi and then to Namasagali for his High school and finally Nakawa Technical Institute from where he did Marketing.

Ndawula was among the pioneer FM radio presenters shortly after liberalization of the industry.

He started his career at Sanyu FM in 1993 together with the late Allan Mugisa popularly known as Allan the canterkarious
and later moved to Capital FM in 1994 until 2017 when he retired.
