Fort Portal: Incumbent Fort Portal Tourism City Member of parliament Hon.Alex Ruhunda Akiki aka #Nikisoboka is set to officially unveil his manifesto to the people of Fort Portal City where he will be seeking people’s mandate for his 3rd term.
The mega launch is set to take place today Monday at 4:pm at Daj Guest House In Fort Portal and will be broadcast live on Hon. Alex Ruhunda’s Facebook page, Evolution 24 Tv, Fortv and Tooro News among other social media platforms.

According to Ruhunda, the manifesto includes a five year strategic plan for the City and other long term goals that are meant to be achieved in the next 15 years.
Who Is Ruhunda?
Ruhunda is a Ugandan research consultant, community mobilizer, businessman and politician. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament for Fort Portal Municipality and a representative for the ruling party NRM. He is the founder and former director of Kabarole research and resource centre, Former chairperson Uganda governance Monitoring Platform(UGMP) And Managing director Daj Communications Ltd.

Ruhunda has also served on various parliamentary committees as chairperson; parliamentary forum for road safety, Rwenzori Parliamentary caucus, tourism,trade and industry committee of parliament.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and masters in gender studies from Makerere university. he has presented a numerous papers and delivered keynote addresses to audiences around the world, he also served in a number of boards of charity organisations including rotary international where he served as an assistant district governor and the the deepening democracy program in Uganda( democratic governance facility) as an eminent Ugandan.

Before ascending to the presidency, Alex served as a board member representing Africa on the IACD board, his superb performance in fostering African issues was the over riding paradigm that propelled hime to the presidency in 2007 at the IACD conference in Hong Kong and subsequent inauguration at Nova Scotia in Canada. in 2008
His tenure at the helm of KRC leadership has witnessed tremendous growth of over 24 years of research and development institutions as has already been exuded by the pivotal role it plays in the growth of civil society in Uganda and other development initiatives.
His ascendancy to the IACD presidency epitomized a protracted struggle to cause development that had started way back in school- e true reward for a man who carries a touch for empowerment of communities to take charge of their own development processes.
Ruhunda broke the record of being the first Fort Portal MP to have served more than one term. According to opinion leaders in the area, this has been due to his unique developmental ideals the big-eyed man envisaged all through his two terms. “That man is ever on ground with his electorates, in all circumstances he will be with you, previous MP ls would even hide from their people. For Ruhunda, every electorate who looses their loved ones, either himself or his agents will reach out to you,” one elderly opinion leader said.
“That man chased traditional kitchens in his constituency with modern kitchens at his cost. Water and power in the area were extended by 70% compared to previous leaderships,” another one added.
