Four Police Officers Murdered, Two LDUs Injured As Public Attacks Against Security Officials Escalate

Kampala: According to Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga, in the last 4 months, the country has registered four serious incidents of deadly attacks on security personnel, in the areas of Busunju, Wakiso, Soroti, and Mbarara where 6 security personnel were attacked.

Enanga says that all 4 police officers were murdered while the two LDUs escaped with serious injuries and out of the 6 guns robbed, only two have been recovered although efforts are in high gear to recover the 4 remaining guns.

”The public should know that ambush attacks and theft of guns from security personnel is an extreme form of violence and can be life-threatening. Although, the motives are not yet clear but the fact that guns are robbed, we believe, the theft and acquisition of guns is a major factor,” says Enanga.

Meanwhile, it has been learnt that the top Force’s leadership after reviewing these incidents of attacks they are now designing additional measures on how to curb secure their officers’ safety.

”Remember these are officers who had dedicated themselves and committed their lives to serve the public under whatever situation. They run towards danger, respond to disturbance calls in order to safeguard the community. Therefore, any attack on security personnel is an attack on the community and that is why we call upon the community in Busunju and Soroti, to cooperate with us and avail information on threats to officer safety and that which can lead to the recovery of these gun,” says Enanga.
