Police have intensified operations to dismantle criminal networks involved in drug abuse, robbery, theft, and other unlawful activities across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.

On February 1, 2026, at around 11:00 pm, a joint security operation was conducted in Kigombya, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District. The operation, targeting a known criminal hotspot, resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects linked to marijuana use, robbery, and waylaying. All suspects are in police custody as investigations continue ahead of prosecution.

In a related operation on January 30, 2026, at approximately 6:00 pm, Kampala Central Police Station, in collaboration with local leaders, launched a disruptive exercise codenamed “Fukuza Mafisadi.” The operation covered multiple areas, including Nakasero, Entebbe Road, Nasser Road, behind Church House, Railway Grounds, Punjani, the Electoral Commission area, and Mukwano.

The crackdown targeted groups of youths who exploit black spots to commit crimes such as snatching mobile phones and handbags, as well as stealing vehicle parts from motorists caught in traffic. A total of 100 suspects were arrested during the operation and are scheduled to be arraigned in court on February 2, 2026.

Police have reiterated that these operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to curb criminality and ensure public safety across the metropolitan area.
