Kampala: Over 84 artists, media personalities and councilors have joined National Unity Platform (NUP), a Political Party led by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine. The group joined earlier yesterday Tuesday at the party head offices in Kamwokya, a Kampala surbab.
The group, according to Nubian Li, the Head of Entertainment in the Political Party, joined to add their voices against the newly introduced laws aimed at streamlining the industry. According to the proposed laws comedians, musicians will have to hand in their scripts to the regulatory body for clearance to record or shoot videos.
The artists and media personalities include; Katongole Denis, Mutyaba Adam (Zig D), Suuna Stephen (Omulangira Suuna), Lubega Kasim (Young Mulo), Jaxta, Kotongole Derick (Victor Kamenyo), Kiyimba Mark Robert (Dictator Mark), Kawuki Denis (Dr. Bitone), Ivan Kyeyune (Zungulu), Kazibwe Isa (Kappo), Seremba Fred, Basajja, Azizi Mukisa (Aziza Azion), Katumba Paul (Ragga Pimpe), Buwembo John, Sentamu John (Manager fire base) Mukiibi Sadat (Khalifa Aganaga), MC Kapale (Kawuki Simon), Kanyerezi Ramadhan, Jemba Joseph (Gerald Kiweewa’s son), Gerald Kiweewa, Bassajja Mivule, Eria Masembe, (Omubi Masembe), Bruce Otabizzi, Dr. Hilderman (Kiyaga Hilary) Katongole Derick (Lyto Boss), Manager Kayemba among others.
The five lord councilors were also unveiled as NUP members at Party headquarters. They include; Nakabugo Farida, Kibirango Rashid, Tabalamule Isam and Damba Isam.
Conversely, 23 councilors representing various parishes also crossed over earlier this morning. They include;
