SAGE is part of the Social Protection Programmes implemented by the government of Uganda under the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development.
Under this program, government gives financial assistance to elderly people in all districts of the country, as one of the ways to help them sustainably overcome difficult days in their retirement age.
Minister Frank Tumwebaze, has since been moving around the country, launching the program which originally started in five districts, before it was rolled in other districts, with an objective of benefiting elderly people aged 80 years and above.
