This has been confirmed by our insider sources in the force who revealed that Sabiiti has been appointed the new General Manager for Luwero Industries a subsidiary of the National Enterprises Corporation (NEC) which is a business arm of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, (UPDF).

As a result, Sabiiti takes over the responsibilities of Brig. Octavius Butuuro whom we have learnt that he has been appointed the deputy commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka in Jinja district.

Taking you back upon his firing from the Police Force as Deputy IGP that saw Maj.Gen.Paul Lokech taking over that position, Sabiiti was left hanging in balance since his boss didn’t appoint him anywhere else over unknown reasons.

However, while on his campaign trail, speaking to NRM leaders on December 18, 2020, at Bujuni Primary School grounds in Kibaale town council, Museveni said he was not happy with the way police was handling matters hence making some changes something that left Ugandans wondering whether its the reason he fired Sabiiti and left him redundant.

“Police had died. They had got some weevils and I made some changes. For the Police, I have told them I won’t tolerate this nonsense anymore. Anyone who can’t defend the people should go home and rear goats,” he said.

According to sources, the changes in the Police Force were informed by the failure by the law and enforcement body to handle the November 18 and 19 protests that stemmed from the arrest of National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine.

Before facing the axe, Sabiiti had served in the A/IGP position since 2018 although he had previously served as the Military police commandant and also as the deputy commander for Special Forces Command an elite force mandated with protecting the president and members of the first family.
