The government has approved salary enhancements for a number of health professionals in the country, starting in the 2022-23 financial year, which kicks off on July 01.

At least Shs400bn has been set aside for the increment of salaries in the next financial year alone.

The move to increase these salaries was confirmed by Catherine Bitarakwate-Musingwiire, the Ministry of Public Service Permanent Secretary.

The wage bill for the health sector will rise from the current Shs694bn to a little over Shs1tn.
