The Communications Department at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has actively engaged with officials from the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance to contribute input into a draft Action Plan aimed at enhancing the effective use of free government public education airtime on radio and television.

The engagement marks a significant step in government efforts to improve communication with the public by ensuring that vital information reaches citizens in a more coordinated, timely, and impactful manner.

The development follows a recent comprehensive assessment conducted by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance across selected Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as various media houses. The assessment sought to evaluate the current utilization of free airtime allocated for public education and identify areas for improvement in its implementation.

Findings from the assessment have informed the formulation of a draft Action Plan, which is now undergoing refinement through a series of stakeholder consultations. These engagements are designed to strengthen collaboration among government entities, improve content quality and delivery, and maximize the overall impact of public education messaging.

Officials emphasized that the initiative will play a critical role in ensuring that government programs, policies, and services are effectively communicated to the public, thereby promoting awareness, transparency, and citizen engagement.

Once finalized, the Action Plan is expected to streamline the use of public education airtime and reinforce the government’s commitment to leveraging media platforms for national development and informed citizenry.
