They say justice delayed is justice denied and that’s what is felt by many relatives of Kenneth Akena Watmon, who was allegedly murdered by city businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari in November 2016.
Kanyamunyu, Munwangari and Joseph Kanyamunyu, appeared before High Court Judge Steven Mubiru today, who however adjourned hearing of the case to January 8-10, 2020.
Kanyamunyu is suspected to have shot Akena, 33, on November 13 in the stomach over a car scratch and he died a day after at Norvik Hospital.
They were arrested and remanded to Luzira prisons but in 2017 court granted them bail pending hearing of their case.
However, this is the second time hearing of the Kanyamunyu murder case is being adjourned, because its hearing had been initially slated for January 20, 2019, although it was adjourned to the next convenient court session, which was today.
But human rights activists and Akena’s family fault the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for dilly dallying over the case, something that is delaying an opportunity to deliver justice for the deceased.
