Prominent lawyer and politician Hon. Dr. Fred Mukasa Mbidde has confirmed the passing of his beloved mother, Miss Mary Kintu, marking a moment of deep sorrow for the family, friends, and the wider political and legal community in Uganda.
In a message shared Friday evening, Hon. Mbidde expressed his grief, describing Maama Mary Kintu as a pillar of strength, love, and unwavering support throughout his life. “It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the passing of my beloved mother, Miss Mary Kintu. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
A tentative program released by the family outlines the official celebration of her life, which will span two days:

Friends, family, and well-wishers from across the country are expected to attend the ceremonies to pay their final respects to a woman whose quiet strength nurtured one of Uganda’s most influential public figures.
Miss Mary Kintu is remembered not only as the mother of a public servant, but as a matriarch who devoted her life to family, faith, and community.
Messages of condolence have already begun pouring in from political leaders, legal professionals, and ordinary citizens, many of whom have praised her for raising a son who has served Uganda with distinction both in the East African Legislative Assembly and in national political life.
The public has been invited to join in the funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Maama Mary Kintu.
