Shock and grief have gripped the quiet neighborhood of Lugonjo Nakiwogo Cell in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District, following the brutal murder of a Ugandan couple, David Mutaaga and Deborah Florence Mutaaga-Nabeeta, at their home on the night of July 6.

According to police, the 69-year-old man and his 62-year-old wife were stabbed to death by unknown assailants at around 9:00 p.m., shortly after they hosted a homecoming gathering for close family and friends. The couple had only recently returned to Uganda after spending more than three decades living in Germany.

The Uganda Police Force, through the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed that the territorial police in Entebbe Division are actively investigating the double homicide and suspected aggravated robbery.

“On July 6, 2025, police received a report from a worker attached to the household indicating a suspected attack. A response team was immediately dispatched to the scene,” said ASP Owoyesigyire.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple inside their residence. Both victims had suffered fatal stab wounds. There were no signs of forced entry, and their CCTV security system remained intact and untampered, raising questions about how the assailants gained access to the home.

Crime scene officers carried out extensive documentation and collected several exhibits, which have since been submitted for forensic analysis. The bodies were transported to the City Mortuary in Mulago for postmortem examinations to support ongoing investigations.

“The motive behind this gruesome attack remains unclear, but all leads are being thoroughly followed. Updates will be provided as investigations progress,” Owoyesigyire added.

The nature of the attack has led investigators to consider the possibility of someone close to the family being involved, especially given the absence of forced entry and the timing—occurring just hours after a celebratory gathering. However, no suspects had been apprehended by the time of this report.

The double murder has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow among residents and the larger Entebbe community, many of whom expressed shock that such a crime could be committed against a couple known to be warm, generous, and recently reunited with their homeland.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that could aid the investigation to come forward. Meanwhile, security has been heightened in the area as authorities work to piece together the chilling events that unfolded in the quiet neighborhood on Sunday night.

The tragic deaths of David and Deborah Mutaaga-Nabeeta now mark yet another disturbing episode in a growing list of unresolved homicides in Uganda’s urban communities.
