UPL: Vipers SC Eyes Big Seat As It Smashes Busoga United 5-3

Vipers Sports Club yesterday smashed Busoga United in a 5-3 thriller on 20th December 20 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

Geoffrey Wasswa broke the deadlock with a brilliant free kick in the 17th minute before George Kasonko levelled for the hosts eight minutes later.

It took only two minutes for Milton Kaliisa to put the Venoms in the lead again and Vipers in the driving seat continued with lethal attacks but the first half ended 2-1 in favour of the visitors.

Ten minutes into the second half, Karim Watambara powered a stunning effort into the bottom corner to make it 3-1 for the Venoms and a minute later, Ismail Mugulusi scored for Busoga.

Fred Kajoba seemed not satisfied and made Viper’s first substitute bringing on Joseph Dhata for Halid Lwaliwa in the 58th minute and three minutes later the Venoms made a double substitution with Paul Mucurezi and Ibrahim Orit coming on for David Bagoole and Mohammed Shaban.

Just nine minutes into the pitch, Mucurezi curled home from a free-kick after Bobosi Byaruhanga was brought down to make it 4-2.

In the 76th minute, Vipers made another double substitute with Najib Yiga and Disan Galiwango coming in for Milton Kaliisa and Dan Sserunkuma. With five substitutes already made, Vipers added more and in the 84th minute, Mucurezi bagged his second and fifth for the club before Paul Ssekulima scored the third for the hosts to make it 5-3 and the match ended 5-3 in favour of Vipers.

The Venoms are now 8th on the table with seven points from three matches while Busoga United stands second last at the bottom.
