A jilted husband is being hunted by the police in Kampala over allegations of murdering his wife who was a nurse at International Hospital Kampala (IHK), whom he suspected on cheating on him with another man, moreover during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.

The horrible incident happened on Saturday in Kitezi-Wakiso District, when a man identified as only identified as Simon hacked his wife  Viola Kakai to death in from of their children, shortly after she had been dropped home by a yet to be identified man late at night.

According to eyewitnesses, the eldest son among the  their three children who is 13 years old, narrated that the last words he heard coming from his mother at the time his father attacked her were; “Simon tonzita; abaana baffe bakyali bato”, loosely meaning “Simon don’t kill me, our Children are still young”.

The boy said his mother’s explanations of the man being just a friend at work whom she had begged to drop her home because it had become late in the night fell on the husband’s deaf ears. He instead started hitting the car with stones while threatening the man who had driven her home, before he pounced on Kakai, beat her to pulp and later chopped her into pieces.

We have since established that Kakai was a midwife at IHK and her husband had lost his teaching job over the COVID-19 pandemic, so he always remained at home to nurse their kids, cook and clean the home as she went to work at the Hospital.

Although her husband is still on the run and being hunted by the police such that he can be charged with murder, Kakai’s body was buried on Sunday at her family’s ancestral grounds in Manafwa District on Monday.

Meanwhile, as police conduct the hunt for Simon, they are also looking for the Good Samaritan who drove her home on Saturday night, such that he can help them with investigations.
