Immigration Police Arrest Over 30 Asian Nationals For Lack Of Working Permits

The Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control of Uganda has carried out an operation this morning 2nd July 2022 within Kampala City where 30 foreign nationals, mostly Indians, Pakistanis and Chinese found working without work permits were arrested and prosecuted.

This actually comes a day after the Directorate on July 1 intercepted eight Illegal immigrants on Goli-Nebbi Road crossing into Uganda. ”Six of of these were Congolese who were thereafter handed over to DRC authorities on organized departure,01 Kenyan cautioned,and 01 Tanzanian still with our sister security agencies,” says Uganda Immigration Directorate adding;

”We continue urging foreign Nationals in the country to legalise their stay by applying online at visas.immigration.go.ug.

Also, on 30th June, 12 foreign nationals mostly Indians and Pakistanis were arrested in Lira City for working without immigration facilities, abuse of facilities, and illegal stay.

Directorate of Immigration offers a number of services among them including: Border management (facilitation and regulation), processing and issuing of visas, passes and residence permits, processing and issuing national and regional travel documents, inspection, investigation prosecution and removal of illegal immigrants, verifying and processing Ugandan citizenship.
