INDOJA Secretary Gen.Elected New Prau President!

At the annual general meeting held on Saturday 1st September 2018 at Fairway hotel Kampala, Miss Sarah Kagingo, the CEO and managing editor of SoftPower Communications Ltd was duly elected as the new President for Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), beating her closest contender, Mr David Birungi.

PRAU, which is an association that links Public Relations practitioners in Uganda, has been led by Standard Chartered Bank’s Cynthia Mpanga, who has been the president since 2016.

In the Saturday’s free and fair elections held at Fairway Hotel, Kagingo got 51 votes, beating Umeme’s David Birungi who managed to gunner a paltry 17 votes of the total votes cast. Unlike in Uganda’s Parliament, there were no invalid votes neither abscondence by any member.

Kagingo, a public relations and communication consultant has previously worked in State house as President Yoweri Museveni’s Special Assistant for communications. Currently, she is the secretary general for Independent online Journalists Association (INDOJA- U), an Association for online Journalists.

In her address after the Victory, Kagingo thanked PRAU members for making a right decision to vote her. She also thanked the outgoing leadership for steering the Association against which foundation she would build from.

“We are finally here and I have nothing much to tell you but heartfelt gratitude for your support, for the faith you have in me and for your votes. You have made a bold and right decision to vote Kagingo for president and I would like to use this opportunity to thank you very much,” she said.

She again thanked her contender Mr David Birungi for his vibrant campaign.
“And so the journey begins, the journey to put into action every item in our manifesto. I thank my contender David Birungi for a vibrant campaign, we need David and each one of you for a vibrant PRAU. I congratulate the new Governing council on being elected and thank the outgoing council for their contribution,” said Kagingo.
