Investigator CEO Stanley Ndawula Released, No Charges Against Him!

CEO of Investigator News Stanley  Ndawula has been released from a safe house in Kyengera where he atleast spent two nights on empty stomach after he declined to take their food, TheSpy reports.

Ndawula, a senior investigative journalist and Chief Executive Officer at The Investigator News told this reporter that ‘it was a wrongful arrest’!

“Col.Kaka Bagyenda himself admitted he was misinformed by his boys, he was asking me about a story that ran on Trumpet instead! Infact he was very bitter with the operative who gave him the information,” Ndawula said on phone.

Ndawula was kidnapped on Saturday morning around 1A.m from Yaya lounge, a hangout on Bukoto street,Kamwokya and detained incommunicado in an ISO run safe house in Kyengera.

How Bagyenda’s Blue Eyed Boys Cornered Ndawula:

Speaking on his arrest, Ndawula said as he was seeing off some of the customers at his Business-Yaya lounge at around 1Am, ISO operatives put him on gun point and was slapped by an errant operative. He was later driven to ‘some place’ in Kyengera.

“Though I wasn’t  tortured physically while under detention, I was tortured psychologically because my Rights were taken away, but I also refused to eat their food because I was suspicious,” he said.

On Saturday, online publishers under their umbrella body Independent Online Journalists Association-Uganda (INDOJA-U) and Human Rights Network For Journalists (HRNJ) demanded for an immediate release of Mr.Ndawula.

The Investigator is a member of INDOJA-U. Other members include Business Focus, The Spy, Soft Power, Spy Reports, the Grapevine to mention a few.

Ndawula has for a long time been involved in investigative reporting into crimes committed within the security force.

Last year, Stanley and his brother Robert Ndawula were arrested, detained at Kira road police and later charged with disturbing peace of former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura . But the case was dismissed after Kayihura lost interest in the case.
