Prominent Ugandan businessman and philanthropist Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has issued a stern warning to the public regarding a fake social media account impersonating him on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In a public notice released today, Dr. Ruparelia clarified that he does not own or operate any account on X, and distanced himself from an account operating under the handle @RupareliaSudhi, which has been falsely posting content in his name.
“It has come to my attention that a fake account impersonating me has been created on X under the handle @RupareliaSudhi. I would like to categorically state that I do not own or operate any account on X,” said Dr. Ruparelia in the statement.

He described the posts from the impersonating account as fraudulent and misleading, and urged members of the public to exercise caution and report the account to the platform’s administrators for appropriate action.

“Any communications or posts from that account should be disregarded,” he added.

As one of Uganda’s most influential businessmen — serving as Chairman of the Ruparelia Group, a conglomerate with interests in finance, real estate, education, and hospitality — Dr. Ruparelia has a public profile that often attracts attention, making him a frequent target for online impersonation.
This incident adds to the growing list of high-profile figures in Uganda and around the world who have been targeted by impersonation scams on social media platforms. The public is reminded to verify official communications through trusted media channels and corporate websites.
