In a closely contested race that put political experience, grassroots mobilization, and leadership credibility to the test, Kimome Rauben Araali has emerged victorious in the NRM LC5 primaries for Kabarole District. He secured 17,703 votes, accounting for 40.9% of the total ballots cast, earning him the party’s flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The results were officially declared by Mr. Musinguzi Rogers, the NRM Electoral Commission returning officer for Kabarole District.

“I therefore declare Kimome Rauben, who has polled the highest number of votes — 17,703 (40.9%) — as the duly elected NRM flag bearer for the Kabarole District LC5 chairperson seat,” said Mr. Musinguzi.

- Kimome Rauben Araali – 17,703 votes (40.9%) ✅
- Mugabe Winfred – 14,331 votes (33.1%)
- Ruhweza Timothy – 6,705 votes (15.5%)
- Angwena Harriet – 2,582 votes (6.0%)
- Nyakwera Mary Baguma – 1,918 votes (4.4%)
- Total valid votes cast: 43,239

Kimome Rauben Araali is more than a politician — he is a seasoned lawyer, respected community leader, and vocal advocate for justice and rural development. A native of Kabarole District, Kimome rose from modest beginnings to build a career rooted in integrity and public service.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and brings over 15 years of legal experience to the political arena. Known for his calm demeanor and strategic mind, Kimome has earned a reputation as a “leader with a plan,” especially in matters of governance and public administration.

Beyond the courtroom, he has played a key role in advancing community development across Kabarole, particularly in:
- Youth empowerment
- Land rights education
- Access to justice in rural areas
He has sponsored legal aid clinics, resolved land disputes, and mentored young leaders throughout the Tooro region.
Kimome’s Campaign Agenda
His campaign was built on three core pillars:
- Agricultural modernization through co-operative development and value-chain investment
- Infrastructure expansion, with a focus on road connectivity in rural sub-counties
- Public service reform, emphasizing transparency, efficiency, and citizen participation
In his post-election address, Kimome thanked voters for their trust and pledged to lead with fairness and inclusivity.
“This is not my win alone — it is a mandate from the people who believe in fairness, development, and inclusive leadership. I pledge to restore public trust in leadership and transform Kabarole into a model district,” he said.
He also extended a message of unity to his fellow contestants, urging them to work together in the spirit of NRM solidarity and shared vision for Kabarole’s future.
With the party primaries concluded, Kimome now turns his attention to the 2026 general elections, where he will face contenders from other political parties. Analysts consider him a strong frontrunner, thanks to his broad party support, deep community roots, and clear, issue-driven platform.
If elected as LC5 chairperson, Kimome will be responsible for steering the district’s social services, infrastructure development, and local governance — a critical role in a region that remains a cultural and administrative heartland of the Tooro Kingdom.
