Jinja, Uganda :A very daring witchdoctor in Eastern Uganda has reportedly dragged the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga to court, accusing her of allegedly taking a charm from him to secure her job but turning around and refusing to pay his Shs200m.
The witchdoctor identified as, Damiano Akuze claims that he administered his spiritual powers and charm 29 years ago to help Kadaga gain political power and influence but instead of paying him as agreed, she started playing cat and mouse games. In his suit filed before Jinja High Court on January 28, Akuze claims that on September 1, 1990, Ms Kadaga approached him at his shrine in Buwala, Buganda Zone, Lulyambuzi Parish in Kamuli District, where he gave her a charm to help her attain a successful political career. By press time today court had not yet summoned Kadaga to file her defence. The court will set the hearing date after she has filed her response to the suit. Efforts to contact Ms Kadaga for a comment on the matter were fruitless as she was reported to be chairing Parliament the whole day.
Akuze alleges that Kadaga) requested him to work on her so that she would be given a big job in government and also be driven in a convoy like a president. The defendant did not have money to pay the plaintiff at the time. So Akuze accepted to work on her on condition that she would pay him as soon as she got the job. He also alleges that he ‘worked on’ her
for two nights of September 1 and September 2, 1990, and she acknowledged the good care and ‘medicine’ he had given her. Akuze however complains that when the Medicine worked for Kadaga and she was appointed to big positions in government, she refused to pay Akuze. He says that “On the 3rd day of September 1990, Kadaga was called by President Museveni and appointed minister and has since then held big positions in government”
Akuze alleges that since 1990, Kadaga has paid him only Shs1m, which was in October 2017, and has since refused to pay him the balance of Shs204.5m. He contends that Kadaga had promised to construct him a house worth Shs100m, give him Tipper truck worth Shs60m, a plot of land at Shs40m and four cows, among other rewards, making a combined worth of Shs204.5m, which she never delivered.
