Mukono—An intelligence-led police operation has led to the recovery of a firearm stolen from a private security company and the arrest of three suspects, including a serving security guard, police have confirmed.

The firearm, belonging to Cheetah Security Company, was reported missing on February 6, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m. at Mukono Police Station. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachel Kawala said swift investigations were launched immediately after the report.

Preliminary findings indicate that the prime suspect, Mbabajje Robert, a security guard attached to Cheetah Security Company, allegedly acquired the firearm through fraudulent means by deceiving his supervisor at the company’s Mukono offices.

Acting on intelligence, police tracked Mbabajje to Kajjansi in Wakiso District, where he was arrested with the help of an associate identified as Parker Scoott. A subsequent search at premises in Kajjansi led to the recovery of the stolen firearm.

In total, three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case. All are residents of Kitende Cell “A” in Kajjansi, Wakiso District.

SP Kawala said investigations are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the theft and to determine whether other individuals were involved in the scheme.

She emphasized that police remain committed to safeguarding firearms and preventing their diversion into criminal hands, noting that cases involving misuse or illegal possession of guns pose a serious threat to public safety.

Police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
