Kayunga Elections: Police Smash NUP’s Ambulance With Bullets

By Spy Uganda

Kayunga: Uganda Police yesterday reportedly shot several bullets at the National Unity Platform (NUP) ambulance that was carrying several party supporters to campaign for their member Harriet Nakiwede in Kayunga District.

NUP’s Nakiwede is battling with five others to fill the district LCV seat which became vacant after the mysterious death of Ffeffeka Sserubogo.

Sserubogo who won in the general elections on the NUP ticket, passed on June 16, 2021, less than a month after being sworn in as the newly elected chairperson of the district.

According to eyewitnesses, these NUP supporters were travelling in the ambulance belonging to the Lubaga South Member of Parliament, Aloysius Mukasa and when reached a checkpoint they refused to stop which the Police responded to by deflating the tyres with gun shots.
