KCCA Host Proline As They Finish First Round

Despite several clubs completing all their first 15 games weeks earlier, KCCA FC and Proline will also do likewise on Tuesday when they face off at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

Both sides were involved in continental football this campaign and had several league games-in hand with one of them pitting the two together.

As expected, they enter the contest with different agendas and sitting at opposite ends of the table.

Like it has always been the case, the Kasasiros are attempting to win another league crown, the second on the trot and a 14th overall.

Currently, in 2nd spot, Mike Mutebi’s side are on 29 points, seven behind leaders Vipers SC. The difference would have been five but the Venoms were handed two more after it was proved that Maroons FC used an ineligible player as they held Vipers to a 1-1 draw at Luzira at the start of the month.

KCCA FC will however see the gap as one they can cover-up over the course of the season but will need victories against sides like Proline if they will in the end be able to do so.

Speaking before the game, KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi stressed the importance of winning the game but also noted that it will not be an easy encounter.

“We want to end the first round on a high. The only way we can do that is picking maximum points against Proline FC, noted Mutebi.

“We face an enterprising side in Proline FC and we expect them to give us a run for their money.

“The win against SC Villa gave the team more confidence especially for the teenagers Kafumbe, Musa and Ssenyonjo.

“Playing a game that huge and delivering is a positive for me and them. ”

“II will keep handing the youngsters the opportunity to play and showcase their ability.

“We are top of the scoring charts in the first round but I believe we can do better than that.”

KCCA FC have been lethal in the final third indeed as they have scored 28 goals in 14 games, an average of two per contest.

Going into the game, they will be without Jackson Nunda, Peter Magambo, Jurua Hassan, Sadam Juma, and Sadat Anaku are ruled out due to injury. Teenagers Joseph Kafumbe and Sam Ssenyonjo are likely to make the matchday squad again.

For Proline, they have spent almost the entire first round at the foot of the table and will be eager to climb off it on Tuesday.

The situation could have been different but it is all because of them as they refused to face SC Villa on match-day three and hence were docked six points.

Currently, on 9 points, they would have been on 15 and in at least 13th spot-had they honoured that infamous game at Lugogo.

In the past few weeks, they have shown signs of improving and starting to gather momentum as they have lost just once in the last six.

The game against KCCA FC is not an easy task as they host it at the home of the Kasasiro.

Match Facts

This will be the 13th meeting between the two sides since October 2010.
