KAMPALA, Uganda: Not even their two goals would salvage the situation, they are out. This is the sad tale of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) as they bowed out of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing on 3-2 aggregate to AS Otoho of Congo Brazzaville at the weekend. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the Kasasiro boys. KCCA will have to wait for another year to contest in the continent championship. KCCA would have qualified if they won the Congo outfit, 3- 0. The two second half goals in a soggy pitch couldn’t help the situation either. The goals by Patrick Kaddu and Allan Okello came rather late, with little  meaning at all. KCCA Coach, Mike Mutebi would not say much after the match, but hastened to add that his boys did all they could, but the lack was on the side of the visitors. Similarly, the other Ugandan outfit, Vipers Sports Club, suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Tunisian side, Sfaxien in Sfax at the weekend. Vipers that needed just a goal less draw to proceed to the second stage after a goalless draw at home in Kitende a week ago were

walloped 3- 0 and send packing. CS Sfaxien qualified to the cup stages after a 3-0 aggregate win.

In short, as a country, Uganda will not be represented in the group stages of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup. The 3-0 win by the Tunis based, CS Sfaxien at their Tareb Mhiri stadium, gave the eight time champs another hope to win the continental tournament. Alaeddine Marzouki’s gave the home side the lead inside the opening 10 minutes. Nigerian Kingsley Sokari headed past Vipers’ Burundian goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora for the second goal, 15 minutes to the end of the first 45 minutes. The final nail in Vipers coffin was thumped by Manucho deep in stoppage time as the Tunisians booked their slot to the treasured
