Linda Irene Declared NRM Flag Bearer for Fort Portal City Woman MP, Journalists Bagaya, Mwanguhya Lose Elections

The NRM Returning Officer for Fort Portal City, Nikirungi Alice, has declared Linda Irene Mugisa as the duly elected NRM flag bearer for the position of Woman Member of Parliament for Fort Portal City. Linda garnered 9,160 votes, representing 37.9% of the total votes cast.

The results, which were announced at midnight, placed Sylvia Rwabwogo ‘Akanyana’ in second position with 6,232 votes (25.7%). Other contestants included Victoria Winifred Bagaya, a journalist with NBS TV, who polled 3,662 votes (15.1%), Judith Mukidi with 3,381 votes (14%), Karuyonga Ritah with 1,116 votes (4.5%), and Kateeba Jane Sandra, who received 236 votes (0.1%).

Nikirungi also declared Hon.Margret Mugisa Muhanga as the NRM flag bearer for the Fort Portal North Division member of parliament. Minister Muhanga secured 7,909 votes, followed by Ruhundwa Solomon with 3,985 votes, and Mugisa Vincent with 242 votes.

In Fort Portal Central Division, Alex Ruhunda was declared the NRM flag bearer after obtaining 4,796 votes. He was followed by Muhenda Ronald with 3,309 votes, Kamulindwa Patrick with 2,282 votes, Kakiiza Kagaba Robert with 1,615 votes, Kayondo Gilbert with 310 votes, and Kagaba Stevenson, who received 26 votes.

In Kabarole district, Joseph Mugenyi was declared the NRM flag bearer for Burahya county after obtaining 23,513 votes, representing 50.6%. He was followed by Kabarole District LCV Chairman, Richard Rwabuhinga Abooki with 14,916 votes (32.1%), Mwanguhya Charles Mpagi, also a journalist with NBS TV, THE POLITICAL COMMAND CENTRE with 6,470 votes (13.9%), Rwigyema H. Rubalema with 1,524 votes (3.3%), and Muhumuza Frank, who managed to get 43 votes (0.09%).

Meanwhile, Kirungi Annet Pamela was declared the NRM flag bearer for the woman MP Kabarole District after obtaining 14224, representing 41.2 % of votes. She was followed by minister Victoria Businge Rusoke (Maama wa’baana) with 11610 votes 33.6%), Awiwo Switi Specioza with 4643 votes(13.4%), and Kemigabo Stella with 4078 votes(11.8%).
