Barclays Bank of Uganda Limited, a member of Absa Group Limited, will be hosting renowned soccer legend and former striker, Robbie Fowler, for a three-day visit next week, starting on Thursday upon his arrival.

As part of his visit, Fowler, who is the six-highest goal scorer in the history of the English Premier League (EPL), will share his football career experience, interact with Barclays’ customers and conduct a football clinic with young underprivileged footballers among other activities.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Barclays Bank of Uganda Limited Managing Director, Rakesh Jha noted that: “The EPL is one of our most valuable partnerships and offers us an incredible and unique opportunity to engage with both our current and potential customers as well as cement our credentials as a Pan-African bank with global reach.”

Over the years, Barclays Bank has been a proud financial partner of the English Premier League, a collaboration that has seen premier league legends like Marcel Desailly and the EPL trophy visit Uganda as part of activities to enhance the brand visibility, reward loyal customers with memorable experiences, as well as inspire local footballers and fans.

A “Superfans United Clubhouse” at Lugogo Mall will be the centre for a host of festivities for Barclays’ customers and the public, including exciting competitions, prizes and viewing of English Premier League game.

Barclays is running the ‘#SuperfansUnited’ competition, where anyone who opens an Access Plus Account or swipes their Credit or Debit card could win fantastic prizes, including a VIP experience with Fowler at this Clubhouse.

Additionally, the campaign offers customers an opportunity to win a trip to the United Kingdom to watch a live English Premier League match in May 2019.

“Robbie Fowler’s visit is a reassurance that our customers will continue enjoying the benefits of this partnership even after we transition from Barclays to Absa. We want to use this campaign to reward our loyal customers and build on our brand equity by going beyond conventional financial services and offering memorable experiences,” Jha said.
