In a mission that combined honour, history, and hands-on service delivery, the State Minister for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Affairs, Hon. Alice Kaboyo, has concluded a week of intensive engagements in Nakaseke District—a region forever etched in Uganda’s liberation history.

The visit, which wove together infrastructure development, veteran recognition, and political mobilisation, underscored the government’s commitment to preserving the spirit of the liberation struggle while addressing the socio-economic needs of local communities.

Nakaseke, one of the epicentres of the National Resistance Army (NRA) struggle, played host to a week-long outreach aimed at reconnecting with the civilian veterans who supported the war effort and strengthening their role in community development.

At the closing ceremony, Minister Kaboyo commended the veterans for their patriotism and endurance, calling them “living reminders of the sacrifices that birthed Uganda’s current peace and progress.”

“I thank you for your time, your sacrifice, and your continued commitment to the ideals that built this nation,” she said. “Your efforts in reconnecting us with our history and recommitting to the principles for which our veterans fought remain invaluable.”

The mobilisation exercise, organised by Senior Presidential Advisor Brig. Jacob Asiimwe, traversed nine sub-counties, bringing together civilian veteran leaders to promote service delivery and reinforce support for the NRM government’s development agenda.

As part of the same engagement, Minister Kaboyo commissioned a newly constructed three-classroom block at Ngoma Church of Uganda Primary School. The facility, built by NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd (NEC Works)—a subsidiary of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC)—was hailed as a beacon of government’s ongoing investment in rural education.

The modern structure is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers alike.

During the commissioning, Kaboyo expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for prioritising infrastructure development in historically significant districts like Nakaseke.

She also praised NEC Works for their professionalism and efficiency, saying their track record was “a testament to Uganda’s ability to build for itself—efficiently, cost-effectively, and with pride.”

“Investment in education is a vital investment for the future,” Kaboyo said, urging parents and community leaders to embrace government programmes aimed at poverty reduction and youth empowerment.

Looking ahead, Minister Kaboyo addressed one of the most pressing concerns among veterans—their health and wellbeing.

She revealed that the Ministry of Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, is in advanced stages of planning for a dedicated medical facility for civilian veterans.

Land for the project has already been secured, she said, reaffirming government’s commitment to ensuring that the heroes of the liberation struggle receive the care, respect, and support they deserve.

As she concluded her visit, Kaboyo rallied the NRM family in Nakaseke to protect the party’s legacy by remaining united and steadfast in promoting peace and development.

“Let us guide the young generation and stand firm behind leadership that champions stability, progress, and continuity,” she urged.

Through her Nakaseke engagements, Hon. Alice Kaboyo once again highlighted the delicate balance between remembering the past and building the future—a blend of patriotism and practical action that continues to define her ministry’s approach across the country.
