Magara Murder Suspects Sent Back To Prison

By our reporter

Appearing before the Buganda Road Grade One Magistrate, Charles Yeteise, state prosecutor Viola Tusingwire asked court to remand the suspects on grounds that inquiries into their case are still on going. Yeteise adjourned the case to June 15. Abdul Hakim Lubega, the suspects’ lawyer protested alleged torture of his clients while in prison.

The suspects complained before court that they have been tortured and were made to make confessions and statements under duress. They were brought to court cuffed and shackled by their feet, but the magistrate ordered handcuffs to be removed because there was enough security in court.

The said suspects were arrested last month from Usafi Mosque by joint security personnel where they had allegedly been hiding after committing the alleged heinous crimes.
