Maj. Birungi Appointed New SFC Commander

Entebbe: The Special Forces Command (SFC),  the lite force which guards President Yoweri Museveni and the First Family, has gotten a new commanders.

SpyUganda has learnt that Maj. Gen. James Birungi has been appointed Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC). Maj. Gen. Birungi, who has been the Uganda People’s Defence Air Force (UPDAF) Chief of Staff, now replaces Maj. Gen. Don Nabasa, who has been sent for training.

“Maj. Gen. Nabasa is heading out of the country for a senior officers’ course. The course is good for SFC and the UPDF. Maj. Gen. James Birungi is the incoming SFC Commander,” SFC spokesperson Major Jimmy Omara said in an interview on Tuesday evening. Maj. Gen. Nabasa was appointed to head SFC in January 2017, a position he has diligently executed until he was replacement by the Commander in Chief, president Museveni. Nabasa had earlier on taken the mantle from First Son Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who was appointed Senior Presidential Adviser on military affairs and currently works directly under State House.
