Police in Western Uganda are investigating circumstances under which a former employee of a radio station in Mbarara district was strangled to death by her lover, before he attempted to end his life by drinking poison.
Christine Nuwamanya aka Tii Nah, 28, who was working with Endigyito Radio as receptionist, was on Tuesday morning found dead in her Kiosk.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that she was strangled by her lover identified as Morris Warugaba who accused her of allegedly cheating on him with other men.
According to police, the suspected killer attempted to commit suicide after the incident but was rescued by co-workers before the poison could kill him.
Damian Katwesiime, the Ntungamo District police commander said that “We are doing investigations to find out what exactly caused the death of Ms Nuwamanya. The person who allegedly killed her wanted to commit suicide by poison but was rescued. He was taken to a clinic and later transferred to Mbarara regional hospital.”
Katwesiime added that “He has not yet been reprimanded. He left a note saying he killed her because their love had gone bad, thinking he would have died by the time people see the note.”
Tii Nah, who is survived by one child, was later laid to rest by family members and friends her at ancestry home in Nyeihanga, in Ntungamo district.
