Mpigi: Six people, including the Koboko Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Isaac Kawooya, perished in a tragic road accident that occurred Friday morning at Mpambire, along the Kampala-Mpigi highway.
Apart from Kawooya, the others deceased have been identified as Abudallah Muwonge, 54, of Nyamitanga Mbarara, Anastasie Mukakamali, 66, Christine Aharizira, 25, of Mutojo Ntugamo, Mansoor Ssemanda of Mbarara and a five-year-old child who is yet to be identified. Kawooya perished after a trailer truck registration number T513 DNK/T881 DNG lost control and rammed him into his car registration number UAZ 416D.
. According to traffic police in Mpigi the cause of the accident hasn’t yet established yet, although investigations are still ongoing. However the bodies were taken to Mulago referral hospital for postmortem. Prior to his death, Kawooya was the RDC Bushenyi district before he was transferred to Hoima, Soroti and then Koboko, where he has been serving till he met his tragic end. He hails from Katete, Nyamitanga division in Mbarara Municipality and was a former councilor although he contested for Mbarara municipality legislature seat in 2011 and lost, before he was appointed as the RDC.
