Massive Progress As NCHE Grants Victoria University Operating Charter

Kampala: The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has granted Victoria University a full operating Charter-TheSpy Uganda has learnt.

This has been confirmed in a letter penned by NCHE Deputy Executive Director Dr. Alex Kagume who reveals that at its 63rd Sitting on December 13, 2021, the NHCE resolved to recommend that the Minister of Education Janet Museveni grants Victoria University a full charter in accordance with 101 (3)b of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001.

Legally, the NCHE Resolution is first analysed by the minister of education who then sends the charter to President Museveni for final approval and gazettement and the same is confirmed by Kagume;

“As you may be aware, the law provides for requisite procedures governing the grant of a charter. This involves the submission of the Charter to the Minister responsible for Education who then presents it to the President for final approval, before gazettement of the same.”

This charter is going to bring joy to the Victorians since it will elevate the University to be comparable to a public university as per section 103 (a) of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act 2001 as amended.

The University that was opened in August 2013, has the capacity, facilities and determination to revitalize higher education in Uganda and in the region with a commitment to play a leading role in bringing and developing high-quality education, student-centred learning opportunities based on standards of excellence that are unique, innovative and difficult to match.
