Mukono: State minister for Information Technology Ida Erios Natanba has been summoned by Mukono Chief Magistrates  court, together with three police officers, over the murder of Ronald Ssebulime.

The summons signed by the Mukono Chief Magistrate, Juliet Hatanga,  state that Nantaba is wanted together with Police constables, Ronald Opilo, Ronald Baganza and Edward Cherotich to answer charges of murdering Ssebulime on March 24th 2019.

The four are accused by Ssebulime’s sister, Sylvia Nakayita, of murder contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act, and giving false information to a person employed in public service contrary to section 115 of the Penal Code Act.   Hatanga has ordered the suspects to appear before court on July 15, 2019. Nakayita is represented by Counsel Muwanda Nkunyingi of Muwanda and company advocates.   Ssebulime was shot by policemen on March 24th, 2019 at Nagojje Trading Center in Mukono district. Before being shot in cold blood, Nantaba had raised false alarm that he was trailing on a motorcycle with intentions of killing her.

Following Nantaba’s alarm, Ssebulime was arrested, handcuffed and bundled onto a police patrol van by the accused policemen. However, after driving off a few meters from the scene of arrest, he was later pulled off the truck, thrown on the tarmac and shot  dead by one of the policemen at close range, when he was still handcuffed. So far only Corporal David Ssali, who admitted to have pulled the trigger, has appeared in court to answer for the murder. But Nantaba has repeatedly ignored police summons to record a statement on the incident and claims that she received orders from ‘Above’ not to go to any police station. She instead summoned the police to her home, if they want to record a statement from her.
