A bitter clash has erupted among members of the Rushegyera family over where to bury him.
Joshua Nteireho Rushegyera was shot dead together with Fiona Merina Kamikazi on Thursday night along the Entebbe Expressway, inside a Prado TX number UAV 534B.
However, the Rushegyera family is divided on where to lay him to rest, because there are two camps in the family, with each advocating that he is buried in a different place.
SpyUganda has learnt that whereas one camp wants him to be buried in Bushenyi the other one wants him buried in Kazo village in Kiruhura district.
As a result of the bitter clash between the family members, Martin Rushegyera, brother of Joshua Rushegyera and heir of late Eliphaz Rushegyera, has issued a statement about the burial. His statement reads thus;
STATEMENT BY RUSHEGYERA FAMILY REGARDING THE BURIAL OF LATE JOSHUA RUSHEGYERA IN KAZO
The tragic demise of Joshua Rushegyera our son and brother has left the family devastated. We cannot express in words our heartfelt grief, Joshua you will forever remain in our hearts, especially the manner in which the merciless killers ended your precious life in Cold blood. We pray that the killers be brought to book to account for this crime so shocking.
However, as a family we thought we would lay you to rest by the resting place of your mother in Kasharari or near your father’s grave in Rwenjeru Bushenyi.
We are disheartened that some people so powerful on your late mother’s side have dictated to bury your remains at your maternal Uncle’s place in Kazo in total disregard our lineage and ancestry customs.
This is a very big embarrassment and disappointment not only to the Rushegyera Family, but to the people of Kasharari, Rwenjeru and Bushenyi District, and the Basingo Clan.
We have therefore as a family resolved not to go to Kazo for burial, but wish our son and brother an eternal rest.
Martin Rushegyera (Heir) on behalf of Rushegyera Family.
It has since emerged that Rushegyera’s late mother was cousin to President, reason why the First Family wants him buried in Kiruhura, although his father’s side in Bushenyi doesn’t want this.
Rushegyera’s burial is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday September 8th, 2019.
