Movit Employee Killed By Mob After Accident In Hoima

Hoima: Police in Hoima are hunting for a group of people who allegedly lynched one of Movit employees and burnt the company car to ashes.

The fateful accident occurred on Thursday 18 July evening in Hoima District when a speeding car knocked to death a resident.

Residents in retaliation burnt to ashes the Car involved, beating the driver to death and leaving two others in the car with severe injuries.

According to reports, the dead, identified as Bony Mbusa from Kasese has been working with Movit products as an account developer Salon section.

ACP Deo Obura, the Albertine Regional Police commander confirmed the news on phone and said police is on hunt for these assailants as they investigate the cause of the accident and getting details of the deceased.

The Hoima District Police Commander, Bernard Akankwasa decried the rampant crime rate in the district, and urged residents to keep law and order instead of making a rush Judgment.

For months, police have been expressing worry over rampant murders by mob action where 42 people have atleast been lynched in seven weeks.

A countrywide report by Criminal Investigations Directorate compiled from January 1 to February 20, shows a total of 41 cases of mob action were reported to police, with 42 victims lynched and four people survived with grave injuries.
