President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi has landed in Uganda today, Wednesday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening and deepening bilateral relations.

The Mozambican President will meet with his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, to discuss ways to improve historical links as well as political, economic, social, and cultural collaboration between the two countries.

President Nyusi was authorized to visit Uganda between April 27 and 29, according to the country’s Permanent Commission of the Parliament, which also underlined Uganda’s willingness to enhance cooperation ties with Mozambique.

“Mozambique and Uganda have enjoyed excellent relations of friendship, solidarity, cooperation and camaraderie since the national liberation struggle,” parliament said.

According to the Mozambique Presidency, both Heads of State will evaluate the current state of bilateral cooperation, with a focus on decisions made during Museveni’s most recent State visit to Mozambique.

During a three-day visit to Maputo in 2018, President Nyusi hosted Museveni for official meetings, during which a general cooperation agreement on defense, tourism, diplomacy, and trade was signed.

This is coming barely 24 hours after Malawi and Mozambique signed two important trade pacts aimed at unlocking and boosting trade between the two countries.
