Kampala – Victoria University (VU) yesterday officially welcomed its July/August 2025 second and last cohort in a vibrant orientation ceremony at its Kampala campus, cementing its status as one of the region’s fastest-rising academic powerhouses.
The event, marked with an atmosphere of excitement, brought together administrators, lecturers, and fresh entrants as the institution unveiled its philosophy of learning, innovation, and hands-on experience. Officials emphasized that every new student joining the VU family embarks on a transformative journey grounded in employability, entrepreneurship, and practical skill-building — a model that has set the university apart from conventional higher education pathways in Uganda.

During the orientation, incoming students were introduced to VU’s modern learning environment, from state-of-the-art ICT-equipped classrooms to its blended digital-physical study system that accommodates flexible learning needs. Leaders underscored that this approach is tailored to produce adaptable, work-ready graduates capable of thriving in competitive local and global economies.

Among the programmes spotlighted was the Bachelor of Guidance and Counselling, a three-year degree designed to nurture professionals with the empathy and expertise to address psychosocial issues across schools, workplaces, communities, and humanitarian organisations. With tuition fixed at UGX 885,000 per semester, the programme offers both affordability and professional rigor — ensuring that quality higher education remains within reach of ordinary Ugandans.

Fresh students expressed optimism about their academic journeys. “I chose Victoria University because it prioritises practice, exposure, and student-centred training. This is where I know my dream of becoming a professional counsellor will take root,” one newly admitted student remarked.

VU Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga and faculty assured the new cohort that they were not merely entering a lecture hall, but becoming part of a home for dreamers, doers, and makers — a hub where innovation meets social impact.
Victoria University continues to expand its influence with diverse offerings in Health Sciences, Business, ICT, Humanities, and Applied Sciences. Its mission remains to produce graduates who are not only academically grounded but also job creators, leaders, and solution-bearers for Africa’s ever-evolving challenges.
