MUK Guild Aspirant Rescued, In Critical Condition

Kampala: Joshua William Mukisa, a  student who contested for the guild president in the Makerere 2019 elections but went missing shortly thereafter has been found, dumped in a swamp.

Mukisa, a third year Law student who contested under the People Power umbrella, had been missing since Friday, 17 May 2019, when he disappeared from at Lumumba Hall, where he resides. His disappearance left both friends and family having fearing for his safety because they had scanty details about his whereabouts. Makerere University administrators and students started looking for Mukisa in vain. Muhammad Kigundu, the University communications manager said that “Joshua Mukisa disappeared from the university on May 17 amid exams and has never been seen since.” According to a family source, Mukisa was found yesterday, Monday June 3, around at a swamp. Sources close to his family revealed that Mukisa was first taken to Police before being rushed to Mulago hospital because of the condition he was in.

A family member has told us that Mukisa was found with scars and marks of physical torture which he might have got during the time he was in captivity. “He was found around a swamp but we were only able to make contact with him today (Monday) morning. He is able to talk but very weak with scars and marks of physical beatings all over his body,” a relative said. Mukisa was later transferred from Mulago National Referral Hospital on orders from above to Bombo Military Hospital due to congestion they found at Mulago Hospital.
