Kampala, Uganda — The Chief Executive Officer of Mulungi Tours and Travels, Nagawa Allen, is facing mounting public scrutiny following allegations that the company defrauded several clients through failed travel arrangements and unfulfilled tour packages.

The controversy gained widespread attention after a young woman shared her experience on social media, claiming she paid for a tour package in installments intended as a gift for her mother, who had raised her under difficult economic conditions. According to her account, the trip was meant to reward her mother’s years of sacrifice, but the promised tour allegedly never materialized.

The emotional testimony quickly sparked public outrage online, prompting intervention from government officials. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi, the Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, has publicly pledged support for the victim and others who may have been affected.

In a statement shared on social media, the minister called on the young woman to contact officials at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, assuring her that government agencies would assist in pursuing justice and recovering the lost funds. He also condemned fraudulent practices targeting vulnerable citizens, emphasizing the need for accountability.

The ministry has since invited any individuals claiming to have been defrauded by Mulungi Tours and Travels to report with evidence so authorities can coordinate assistance and investigations. Balaam indicates that the company’s proprietors could face arrest and prosecution on charges including obtaining money by false pretence if the allegations are substantiated.

The matter is expected to involve several security and anti-corruption agencies, including the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, led by Brig. Gen. Charles Isoke, alongside law enforcement and intelligence bodies.
