Museveni Awards Police Spokesperson,40 others with Medals for exemplary work!

Uganda’s president who is also commander in chief (CiC) of the armed forces Rtd.Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday surprised thousands of his guests that had turned up for the 32nd National Resistance Movement/Army Liberation victory day celebrations held at Boma grounds, Arua District when he recognized and awarded over 40 Police Officers with medals.

Among those awarded included police’s mouth piece Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emilian Kayima who observers said smiled from ear to ear upon reading his name as he matched foward to received his medal until the function ended!. “Ofcourse I’m surprised, because I never expected that I would be awarded”, Kayima was heard by our snoop whispering to his colleague seated near him at the function.

The officers were awarded with two categories of medals; the Golden Jubilee Medal and the Police centenary Plus Medal.

These officers included;SACP Joseph Jerome Kintu, SCP  Muhabwa Laban, SCP Nuwagira John, SCP Asaba Charles, Rtd. ACP Alopet Godfrey  Odia, SSP Nabende Musa, SP Nuwamanya Charles Ivan, Rtd ASP Kanonko George, D/IP Nandawula Rose, AIP Achom Ann Grace and SSP Emilian Kayima himself.

Others are SCP Kasalawo Christopher, SP Tweheyo Jackson, AIP Namugere Lydia Susan, AIP Olila Justine, Sgt Bisikwa Catherine, Sgt Nambi Christine among others.

In his Address, the President called upon the Police to restore discipline on roads in Uganda.

“The Police must insist on enforcing the traffic and Road safety codes. Don’t overtake when you’re not supposed to overtake and don’t drive on the pavement because it’s for pedestrians. I have heard investors complaining about drivers in Uganda,” President Museveni said.

“As Uganda is developing, I appeal to Ugandans to learn discipline. If you’re in Kampala and see how recklessly the Boda boda cyclists ride, you’re going to undermine our efforts to bring more people to Uganda,” he added.

He also urged the youth to live a responsible life in order to embrace developmental opportunities.
