Museveni Finally Retires Maverick Maj.Gen.Kasirye Ggwanga,10 Others From Active Army service

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander in Chief of Uganda’s Armed forces on Wednesday retired 11 generals from the UPDF who have served the army since the 60s.

The colorful ceremony that was held at state house Entebbe was attended by friends and families of the army officers.

Among the retired is the maverick and controversial Maj.Gen.Kasirye Ggwanga who joined the armed forces 1972.

Other officers retired include; Maj Gen Hussein Adda, a long serving commander of UPDF General Military Headquarters Bombo who has been in active service since 1963, a year after Uganda got its independence, Maj Gen Ali Kiiza (joined 1966), Maj Gen Mateeka, Maj Gen James Ssebaggala, Maj Gen. Joshua Masaba, Brigadier Stephen Othieno, Brigadier Olanya Ojara, Brigadier Yowasi Kiiza, Brig Jacob Musajjawaza and Brig Mark Kodil.

The president praised the officers for their service which he said has greatly contributed to the peace and security of the country.

Over 1000 Officers and Militants are expected to retire from active service of the military during the financial year 2018/2019.
