Parliament: Having been in the media for a couple of years, accumulating enough experience and contacts, we can all say now that Sarah Kagingo, Joseph Sabiti and Sadab Kitata’s prayers have finally paid off. This, after the trio were appointed as Principal Press Secretaries to the Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, Deputy Speaker Anita Among and Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga respectively.

The trios’ appointments were announced on Tuesday by the Parliament’s Director of Communications, Chris Obore via his twitter handle noting thus; “Welcome on board Sarah Kagingo (Media for Speaker), Joseph Sabiti (Media for Deputy Speaker) and Sadab Kitata (Leader of the Opposition). Enhancing parliament communications. Congratulations,” Obore tweeted.

Our inside sources intimated to this report that with effect from next week Monday, NBS TV’s senior journalist and Frontline Talk show host, Joseph Sabiti will be in charge of Deputy Speaker, Annet Anita Among’s Public Relations desk, while Leader of Opposition’s communication matters will be handled by senior journalist Sadab Kitata. Kitata previously worked with the Observer newspaper.

Sabiti previously left NBS TV and had a short stunt at Action Aid International as communications officer before making a U-turn back to Naguru based NBSTV. He also worked with tycoon Wavamuno’s defunct WBS TV.

Kagingo on the other hand, a former Guild president Makerere University rose through the ranks to become special presidential Assistant for communications (2011 to 2014), a job she did for a short period of time before facing numerous ‘roadblocks’ courtesy of her fellow workmates within state house. She took to the heels to save her baby face and later consoled self by founding Soft Power communications, where she is currently serving as its Managing Director. She also had a short stunt at Gen.Saleh’s  Operation Wealth Creation as well. Infact, between 2015 and 2017, Kagingo was in charge of communications and public affairs at Operation Wealth Creation.

Kagingo is also a former president of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), among others.

The above appointments mean that the three secretaries will be working under Parliamentary Directorate of Communications and Public Affairs headed by former Daily Monitor scribe Chris Obore.
