Museveni’s Newly Appointed Ministers To Officially Take Over Offices Next Year

By Spy Uganda

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s newly appointed ministers will not start official duty until next year, after being endorsed by Parliament’s Vetting Committee.

By law all government appointees are supposed to appear before the Vetting Committee to present their credentials and prove beyond reasonable doubt that they are fit for the positions to which they have been .

However, the newly appointed ministers will have to wait until next month when parliament reconvenes after the Christmas holidays, for them to be approved by parliament.

According to the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, by the time Parliament broke off for recess on Thursday, President Yoweri Museveni, the appointing authority, had not written to the House, about the new appointees despite their appointment a week ago.

There was thus no way Parliament could have scheduled the matter on the Order Paper, without any briefing from the Executive.

So until the Vetting Committee approves all the appointed ministers as fit to execute the duties of their offices, the incumbent ministers are still running the show.
