Nakasongola Accident Claims Four, 48 Injured

Nakasongola, Uganda: Details coming in about the horrible Link Buss accident that occurred in Wabinyonyi sub-county on Sunday morning,  in Nakasongola district, indicate that at least four people have been confirmed dead and 48  others sustained grave injuries.

Eyewitnesses reveal that the tragedy occurred at around 10:00Am when  the bus registration number UBA 332B lost control after getting a puncture, overturned and rolled into a trench at Namayonjo village in Wabinyonyi Sub County, along Kampala-Gulu highway.  The ill-fated bus was heading from Kampala to Masindi at the time of the accident. Traffic Police officers and rescuers rushed to the scene and helped many of the injured out of the wreckage.   Paul Kangave, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson said that the injured  sustained multiple wounds on legs, arms and heads. The injured were rushed to Nakasongola Military Hospital, Bombo Military Hospital, Nakasongola Health Centre IV, Luweero Health Centre IV and Mulago Hospital for medical attention.

Meanwhile, the deceased were transferred to Nakasongola health center IV mortuary and the police are doing everything possible to identify them, such that their bodies can be given to relatives for burial. The police are still conducting investigations to establish what exactly could have caused the accident.
