WhatsApp, Smartphone App which enables users to communicate

Apart from chatting and voice calls, WhatsApp, which is a subsidiary of Facebook, also allows users to send voice messages, make voice and video calls, plus sharing images, documents, user locations and other media.

The App, which is very popular for both business and leisure communciations, currently boasts of over one billion users worldwide.

complaining about Admins who add them to groups they are not interested in or even at times, not sharing the same views or objectives with other group members.

But the with this new WhatsApp control feature, will enhance privacy and help users decide who can add them to groups and who can’t.

A statement from WhatsApp about the new feature reads thus;“In this case, an admin who can’t add you to a group will be prompted to send a private invite through an individual chat, giving you the choice of joining the group. You’ll have three days to accept the invite before it expires.”

With this new feature which is already in service, users will have more control over the group messages they receive.

How It Works

To activate this feature, go to Settings in your WhatsApp, then tap Account >Privacy > Groups and select one of three options: “Everyone,”

“My Contacts,” or “My Contacts Except.”

‘My Contacts’ means only users you have saved in your phone book can add you to groups and ‘My Contacts Except’ provides additional control for who among your contacts can add you to a group.
