National Medical Stores (NMS), working closely with national security agencies, has successfully foiled an attempted robbery at one of its rented warehouse facilities in Entebbe, safeguarding critical medical supplies destined for public health facilities across the country.

According to an official statement issued by NMS, the incident occurred on Tuesday night and was swiftly detected by NMS internal security teams operating in coordination with the Special Forces Command (SFC) and the Uganda Police Force.

The joint security response was immediate and effective, leading to the interception of the suspects before any medical supplies could be removed from the warehouse. Security agencies promptly cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure to facilitate thorough investigations and secure the premises.

NMS confirmed that there was no loss of medical supplies, noting that all items involved in the attempted robbery were recovered at the scene during the operation.

During the incident, two suspects sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment under police supervision, while three others were arrested and remain in custody pending further investigations.

The institution reassured the public that its operations have not been disrupted and that the incident will not affect the distribution of medicines and health supplies to health facilities nationwide.

“NMS operations remain normal, and service delivery has not been interrupted,” the statement read. “We continue to work closely with security agencies to protect our staff, assets, and the integrity of the national medicines supply chain.”

NMS further expressed appreciation to the Special Forces Command and the Uganda Police Force for their swift and professional response, emphasizing that the protection of medical supplies is critical to sustaining public health services.

Investigations into the attempted robbery are ongoing as security agencies work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any possible accomplices.
